This requires a repair of windows to change the hal manually, if selecting microsoft acpi multiprocessor hal in device manager won’t let you select the option for uniprocessor HAL. So, I booted to safe mode, and with msconfig, turned on bootlogging.
Your HAL should reflect the change and be listed as Uniprocessor. Just shut down the VM, multirocessor the from 2 to 1 and power microsoft acpi multiprocessor back on.
