At 1st this would seem a modem problem yet the connection is fine and other units can connect to it, ie other laptop and tablet. So I am unsure if it is the latest. If I make my smart phone android a wifi hotspot I can connect to that and have no dramas whatsoever.
Had the tooshiba for a week, and it will probably be returned to dealer if I can’t fix this.
The time now is If I reboot modem I can sometimes get it to show up again and then the problem repeats. I have now tried just about everything including updating all the drivers and software; applying patches and hotfixes; re-installing Windows to the “out of box” state etc, toshia.

If not try to fix this with BIOS update. I assume that it is as no update is available. I set wireless connected automatically in “Manage wireless networks”, however, after starting Windows, I can see the computer is trying to connect for a few seconds, then a red cross go on the top of the wireless tray icon.
I also had some problems with wifi stability on one notebook, the settings above tohiba, and then new drivers and new firmware solved the problem. Well for me anyway, it is as you say Macbook51, it is as simple as disconnecting the power and pulling the battery out!!!!! I fixed a set channel channel 11 after reading somewhere online that it helped. The Power Management option is unchecked, but the problem persists. I am at a loss to know where to go from here.

I might have a solution to this annoying problem of the wifi hardware not working after sleep. I’m having the same problem. Hi, I too have an L which has the same problem. This is what ive done to no avail: Re-installed the drivers from both the Toshiba web site and from the Applications and Drivers in the Toshiba directory.

You are correct in your understanding of the problem. It could be possible that there is some issue Would recommend doing this: I had same exact problem you had. I had to use fn and f8 to turn on and off.
Let me know if that works for you. My first attempt was to download the realtek driver from the toshiba website which didn’t fix it. Then I held the power button down on the laptop for over thirty seconds.
